Pomelo & Li Xi - Symbolism and Our Lunar Shop
Happy New Year from Abacus Row! Wishing you a year of good fortune. May you find your days filled with laughter and love. May the year offer continued personal growth and may you achieve your aspirations.
In celebration of the new year, and for a very limited time, we've a collection of favorites available in a bright pomelo yellow and a bold li xi red - both colors are believed to bring good luck. For the year ahead, we've selected our most refined and minimal pieces to highlight and balance these two colors. These options will only be available until Tuesday, February 20 in our temporary Lunar Shop. (2/20 update: availability of our Lunar Edition pieces extended through February 28!)
Pomelos are symbols of family unity, prosperity, and good fortune. During the new year, it's customary to display a couple of pomelos in one's home (good things come in pairs). The fruit is also commonly presented as offerings at temples - a symbolic prayer for good luck and fortune. The ubiquitous red envelope, known as 'li xi' in Vietnamese, are given as an offering of good luck and good wishes. They are filled with money and given to children and unmarried youth during this time of year.
We're happy to welcome a little adornment with this kind of sentiment in all of our days. We wanted to share this with you to bring these new year wishes into your own day-to-day or to gift to friends and family.
