JUNE: Giving to TGIJP
Our efforts to give back during COVID are still going. For the month of June, we are contributing 50% of our friendship bracelet sales to Transgender Gender-Variant & Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP).
San Francisco-based TGIJP provides leadership development for Black Trans leaders, housing and employment assistance for community members re-entering society, and legal support for TGI people fighting for gender injustice and self-determination. The mission of TGIJP is to challenge and end the human rights abuses committed against TGI people in California prisons, jails, detention centers and beyond. TGIJP is a group of transgender gender-variant and intersex people – inside and outside of prisons, jails and detention centers – creating a united family in their struggle for survival and freedom.
With the disproportionate impact of the pandemic and economic recession, transgender people of color who already face greater rates of poverty, homelessness, violence and HIV infection are acutely vulnerable. In addition to supporting its on-going work, TGIJP needs help to continue housing TGI people during and after COVID.
Please consider donating directly to TGIJP - tgijp.org. Let us know if you donate to TGIJP, we'll be matching up to $800 in total contributions through the end of June.
2020 July Update: Thank you for helping us donate $480.50 from our friendship bracelet sales. We have also contributed $800 in our matching efforts for a total contribution of $1280.50 to TGIJP.
