Ba Gua — Fire + Water Edition

This Lunar New Year we've brought back our limited Ba Gua Collection. With water being this year's element, we've designed it with a particular focus on the yang and yin pairing of fire and water.
The collection is inspired by Ba Gua (Eight Trigrams), an early system of notation in Chinese history that consists of eight symbols created from the arrangement of 2 straight lines, either solid — or broken - - . These lines, respectively corresponding to the positive (Yang) and negative (Yin) principles of the universe, were combined to create trigrams to represent phenomena of the universe: heaven, earth, water, fire, river, mountain, wind and thunder. Each of our pieces from this collection draws directly from the arrangement of these trigrams and the special Yin and Yang pairings.
This year we bring focus to fire and water. You'll find the trigram for these phenomena marked out in every design offered. Every purchase comes with a card providing a description of the collection and depiction of the fire and water trigram.
As a special collection available only around the Lunar New Year, we designed these pieces with red and gold. Red is the color of luck, joy and happiness. It is considered an auspicious color associated with warmth and life, and is believed to ward off evil spirits.
