Chu Xi (New Year's Eve) Candle – Red
This product is currently sold out.
In collaboration with Studio Stockhome, we’ve produced a limited and exclusive candle to offer you this Lunar New Year. This candle poured in a striking vermillion glass vessel is named Chu Xi 除夕, a reference to the traditions and stories of New Year’s Eve.
Chu Xi is the word used to specifically refer to Lunar New Year’s Eve. The phrase also literally translates to eliminating Xi, the new year’s monster that once terrorized Chinese villages until one villager learned that the monster could be deterred by the color red and loud noises. Hence the lighting of firecrackers and the pasting of red signs over one’s home leading up to the new year.
With notes of burnt firecracker paper, smoke, incense, charcoal, cedarwood, and oak bark, Chu Xi is an evocative fragrance that fills the air with joy, protection and auspicious wishes for the coming year.
Studio Stockhome candles are handcrafted in California with custom perfumes and rich essential oils, designed by sisters Michelle and Diana Stock.
