Susan McKinney is a ceramic artist and award-winning industrial designer. Her exploration of clay’s materiality connects her passion for inventive design with natural materials. SKINNY Ceramics is inspired by the magical formations and behaviors she sees in nature, while highlighting the alchemic, handmade process of clay.
Inspired by magic and potions, this vase is designed to hold incense, candles, and foraged stems. It is sculpted to allow air and smoke to flow through and around it freely. Each one is built slowly, layer by layer with coils, and then hand-carved.
